Review of Social Services

Remember when the social safety net was paid for by our taxes? The Commission for the Review of Social Services (Ontario) has recently published a paper, setting out in clear and frightening language how the safety net protecting the most vulnerable members of our community has been passed to our individual hands. The paper and workbook available here (click on those links), present an essential contradiction. Should the State provide a non-starvation income to people on social assistance, while allowing those who work full-time for minimum wage to subsist on that same starvation-level income? (Or maybe there's a better way to organize society???)
